Gonstead Chiropractic

What is Gonstead Chiropractic?

Gonstead Chiropractic was founded and devloped by Dr Clarence Gonstead. Rather than a “quick fix”, a Gonstead Chiropractor focuses on the whole person and identifies the source of the patients problem by examining spinal misalignments, nerve dysfunction, foundation imbalance and motion disturbances.

What does Gonstead Chiropractic system involve?

We identify the sources of the patient’s problem by examining the spine in the following ways:

  • History: A detailed history allows us to understand the patients full health picture
  • Visualisation: Visualisation starts from the moment a patient walks through the door. Even the most subtle changes to your gait, posture and range of motion can indicate the presence of a vertebral subluxation.
  • Instrumentation: A Nervo-Scope/ Delta T is utilised to detect signs of inflammation via heat detection.

  • Static Palpation: The spine and surrounding tissues are gently felt for swelling, tenderness and changes in contour, tone, and texture- further indicators of vertebral subluxation
  • Motion Palpation: The chiropractor isolates and motions any potentially subluxated vertebrae to feel for range of motion restrictions. This allows the doctor to determine the 3-dimensional direction in which the bone has subluxated and how best to achieve ideal correction.
  • X-ray Analysis: Full spine X-rays allows us to visualise and evaluate the entire structure of the spine including posture, joint and disc integrity, potential fractures, and misalignments. All films are taken in the standing, weight-bearing position and capture each patient’s unique presentation.

  • Specific Adjustments: Precise and specific adjustments are performed by hand using quick, focused, yet gentle pressure.
